crackerjacky (From JC ) "As for my betting style, I will try to explain it again. My first bet at the table would be 2 units. If I win that hand I will drop down to 1 unit. If I win the next hand I will go back to 2 units. Next win bet 3. next win bet 4 next win bet 5 etc. If at anytime you lose you start all over again. REMEMBER 2-1-2-3-4-5 etc.A few months ago I made it up to ten units." JC, I have a question about this style of betting which Grifter referred to as the "New York": What do you do if you LOSE that 1 unit bet? Do you start over w/ your 2-1-2-3-4-5 immediately, or do you repeat that l unit until you win? Since a Lose/Lose is just as common as a Win/Win, wouldn't it be better to stay with that l unit for more than l hand before you return to the 2-1-2, etc. progression? Just wondering.... 2003-07-24 21:01:24
Ron T DD, if the dealer has a blackjack and he didn't discover it until he dealt out additional cards, he still beats everyone else including those with 3 card 21's. If someone also has a blackjack, then its a push. Mike is right when he says if you doubled down or split when he has a blackjack, you only lose your original bet and not the double down and split bets. Those double down and split bets are returned to you. 2003-07-24 06:49:41
Mike DD I have seen that no peek thing in San Diego, but the dealer would not take a double down bet if he had a BJ. 2003-07-24 06:03:30
Desert Dog More from Vegas trip -- last two days made up for losses from first two. Well worth it. Second City at Flamingo a great show reasonable price. All dealers seemed very knowledgeable, quick to spot players who knew what they were doing, and to step in pre-emptively for example to indicate that a hit of 12 vs 2 or 3 is right play. If I sit at 3rd base I announce to everyone that they'll see me playing completely strict basic strategy and to expect nothing different. My only deviation might be not to double an 11 vs a dealer 10 if there's a lot of paint lying out there already. (I'd just hit.) 2003-07-23 22:55:42
Desert Dog Encountered this at the lower limit casinos: Dealer only checks hole card if Ace is showing, ie does not check if upcard is a Ten. This leaves a dealer blackjack as a possibility and makes you cautious about certain doubles or splits. One time I had a 3 card 21 and still lost. Have any of you encountered this and what do you do to your play in response? Casinos in question were Barbary Coast and Boardwalk, both too cheap to invest in those little mirrors or scanners in the table for the dealer to check hole card without turning up a corner of a card. 2003-07-23 22:47:15
Desert Dog Now for the BJ news from Vegas. My best successes were with dull old Dahl. More aggressive betting patterns even when played at low minimum casinos (chosen so my base unit could be low and my upper levels tolerable) still ended up biting me. The 1-2-3 Let It Ride that I've posted about before gets aggressive and didn't work to my advantage. Plus the atmosphere was sleazy in the lower limit places. I did best in the Paris casino using Dahl and on more than one occasion got to the 3x level. Best news was last night my wife finally gave up on the slots, sat down beside me at a table, followed my advice, and turned an eight unit buy-in into a twenty-five unit color out. Plus I did well during the time she was there so she got a real good look at the upside and now wants to read the books and really learn Basic Strategy. Opening her eyes to the evils of slot machines and to this as an alternative puts me way ahead. Of course while we were doing this the kids (boys 17 and 12) were upstairs ordering who knows what kind of movies. 2003-07-23 22:41:39
Desert Dog Back home in Arizona from vacation in San Diego and Las Vegas. This post is about roads, not Blackjack, so don't waste your time reading this if not interested. (And Zebra/el Hombre - thanks for the info about places in SD to play but we did the beach and zoo thing there.) I-15 between Barstow CA and the Nevada line is one of the worst interstates I've ever driven. I had thought southern Californians had easy access to Vegas; now I realize that US 93 from Phoenix over the Hoover Dam ain't so bad after all. Immediately over the Nevada line, I-15 improves a lot. There is a casino alongside I-15 about one inch inside the Nevada border. 2003-07-23 22:28:52

zebra single black and white zebra looking for blackjack partner in san diego. serious inquiries only. 2003-07-23 14:34:25
okohiored If you are a counter the best place I know to play is Costa Rica where dealers are very inexperienced and make mistakes both ways for you and house.Pit boss is always tending to dealers.I have a winter home there.Dealers often expose next card in deck haphazardly. 2003-07-23 14:33:36
BuGhOu§eMASTER hmm JC, your progression seems alright... i'd like to get opinion on which betting strategy, that or DAHL'S is better. and also, it seems that your strategy depends on WINNING as that's the only way you up your bet from 2-3-4-5... the moment you lose your last high progressive bet, you're SCREWED! I dont like that in your system... which is why I like Dahl's progression more... what's up 2003-07-23 14:16:37
McFlaherty Grifter - alright, thanks. Will do! 2003-07-23 14:14:47
JC Grifter-Thanks 2003-07-23 13:40:27
Grifter McFlaherty - I am repeating myself from last week, but you would be better off 'springing for fifteen bucks' and buying Wong's 'Profession Blackjack'. Just my opinion. 2003-07-23 13:22:44
Grifter JC - Rather than repeat and use space....See my post dated 7-19. 2003-07-23 13:13:43
McFlaherty Has anyone ever taken a look through the website: www.blackjack-school.com? I was wondering if the BS Variation tables in Lessons 14 through 16 were accurate with the use of the high-low count. 2003-07-23 13:05:44
JC Grifter- What do you use these days to help your game? Are you a counter? There seems to be a difference in opinion with the 2 systems. 2003-07-23 12:57:39
