My first attempt at card counting recently was rather successful using the stage 1 Kiss count. I have always been a flat better at just over the table minimum and felt a little guilty raising my bets when the count was over 20. I played at a full table and the cards were in plain site for a long enough time for me to be accurate. I found that it was easier to count up the positive numbers first then I could easily eye the face cards and subtract them from my total. Thanks to Mr. Renzey for sharing the Kiss count. I see that I can use the strategy modifications for the stage two system with the basic, is there additional strategy modifications that will work with the basic Kiss count?

The single most important basic strategy modification you can make is to stand with 16 against a 10 when the running count is at all higher than what would be "normal" or "neutral" for that current penetration depth into the shoe (or deck).

For example, with KISS I you begin your six deck count at "10". Since you're tracking two more low cards than high cards, the count will "normally" rise two points with each deck that's dealt. More specifically, when you get three decks into a six deck shoe, if three complete and intact decks had really come out, your running count would be "16". That would leave three complete and intact decks in the shoe. At this point, you would stand with 16 against a 10 if the running count were "17" or higher. One deck in, you'd stand at "13" or higher -- two decks in at "15" or higher, etc. These moves would be correct because you're supposed to stand with this hand whenever the count is at all positive. You "Rule of 45" and "Mag 7" players; notice that your hand composition and board composition will steer these decisions in the right direction.
