First time in a casino

I am fortunate enough to be on a business trip where there is a casino in the hotel, so I decided to pop my cherry. Im not much of a gambler but I knew blackjack had the best odds.

I memorized the basic strategy and fist night I tripled my 50$ I started with, and now I am waiting on my blackjack Bluebook from amazon.com Meanwhile I read up on OPP and am going to use that tomorrow night. I just have one question.

I calculated the house advantage to be around .62 for this casino. Can using OPP overcome this edge? If so by about how much and what kind of spread would I have to use?


Local rules used to calculate the edge (except surrender because I'm not sure what the adjustment is for surrender offered in a no hole card game)

You may have popped your cherry and won a little money but wait until you get RAPED... and then try to find your cherry....

example:

I went to a small California casino (Pauma) on Sunday morning...

Walked in at 8:00 am

Got myself coffee and ate a cookie at the snack area table.

Started playing at about 8:15.. bought in at $100.00.

After about seven minutes and $50.00 less I moved to another table.

Won no more than 3 hands at the next table and left the casino minus my $100.00 about 8:40 and went home and cleaned my garage....

By the way I am a pretty good experienced player...

When you say OPP, do you mean hi opt? or some other system.

It is different I beleive. OPP stands for one per person I think. Is the .62 edge too high to overcome using this?

Wish I could find some sort of 5 or 6 card charlie, I seem to get about 2 or 3 6 card hands per hour.

I have no clue how something called, one per person could possibly overcome any edge. Is it a card counting system? If not it is probably useless.

A .62% is a bad game and difficult but possible to overcome. One would need a huge spread to expect any kind of reasonible return long term. I play games with between .18%-.40% and consider the games at .40% barely playable.

IIRC, it is pretty much the same as the speed count taught by Golden Touch Blackjack.

I just looked into it... not for the faint of heart, nor should it be used with ANY heat present... Spread 1-16 ! YIKES!

It will surely draw attention away from the real counters at the table spreading only 1-6. Geez what a way to get bounced outta Vegas!

Separately... at 0.62% House Avantage, look around for better rules.

As for the Ace surrenders... that would be Hard 17, 16, 15, 8-8, and possibly 7-7. Yes Hard 17... because your chances to TIE got a lot worse when the dealer has soft 17.

Hard 17 vs. Ace loses 51% to stand... surrender loses 50%, thus surrender the Hard 17 when the dealer shows an Ace.

77 vs. Ace not quite surrender as I look it up, a little better to hit than surrender.... 88 vs Ace is definate surrender.
