My las Vegas Experience

I live in Norway and I have always wanted to visit Las Vegas, so I booked a two week holiday with room and food paid. Nice room and more food than I could eat - I love those american breakfasts lol. :)
Anyhow my bank advised me not to take too much cash as ' they seem to prefer credit cards over there', so I had obout $200 dollars when I went to my first casino to play blackjack. Being a novice, but knowing basic stratergy lost me my cash BR in about a four hours. Must learn not to drink whilst playing BJ!!!
No problem says I... I have two credit cards, Visa and Master card.
Upon trying to get money on my visa card I got the following error message...'You have reached your daily limit'......WTF!!! I had not drawn any money out that day.
Oh well maybe a data error so I tried Master Card. 'Your card is not set up to withdraw money in this country' said the ATM machine. Duh!!! I was sorely tempted to kick the ATM machine, but the big, no...not big, bloody huge, black guy in a suit with a lable on his jacket saying 'Casino Security' put me off. :)
My only option now was to try visa again next day and if that did not work I was up s**t creek without the preverbial paddle so to speak.
Ok walk around the town and look at the waterfalls/fountains and the nice casinos, the streched limos and that eiffel tower monstrosity in the middle of the road lol.
Next day I tried both cards again and got the same message back!!!!!
Now I don't mind losing my money at the tables but to walk around for 12 days without a penny in your pocket in Las Vegas when your sole intention was to come and gamble is not what I call a good holiday. :)
I'll know better next time!!!!!!!!!

So taranga what moron at your bank told you not to bring cash to a casino town then does not set up your CC for cash withdrawl, sheesh. Think it is time to find a new bank.But hey you only lost $200.00. There have been times I have lost much more than that in a weekend.

I know you posted your message 5 days ago, so I hope you found a solution. If your bank has a U.S. affiliate you might be able to get funds. Also, Mastercard or Visa, might be able to change your account so you can use the ATM machines. I did this once while in Vegas many years ago and the change took one full working day before taking effect. I know Vegas hotels will cash checks for guests but in the case of checks drawn on banks outside the U.S. they might not.

Things can get very messed up in a foreign country. Many years ago, I worked for a U.S. firm in Asia. My pay was deposited into a checking account at a bank in New York City. The bank branch was closed, my account moved to another branch and a new account number assigned to me. The problem was, I was not notified for about a month and during that month was writing checks on a closed account. When I was notified and received my new checks, no one would any longer accept a check written by me, even though I used local funds to clear any debt. It took over 8 months to clear the whole thing up and then I had a lot of money in my checking account. I do consider that time I played blackjack professionally, as that is how I made the additional money I needed, since I could not cash a check.
