I've been thinking a lot about everyone's views here, and besides the love of the game, the discussion of strategy for it is just as fascinating. Anyway, a thought occured to me that gives me a little more belief that "we" can win, over the house.
No matter what method, counting, progression, lighting candles, etc., one fact stands out. Let's say we're playing with a hoped for win of $500 for the session. If we get to the $500 win, we walk. On the other hand, if we lose $500 we cut our losses and quit. There's our edge. We choose when to end the session. I think this is hugely important. If the casino is down $500 on our play, they cant quit. Our call. If they're up $500 on our play it's still our call to end it there (or ride it out to an eventual upswing). I know this is very obvious, but I think it's important to remember when thinking about house edge. I believe it swings the ball a good amount in our favor. An obvious obversation, but it makes me feel a good bit stronger when I play.
