I've been doing some lurking here for a little while..I'm just average joe player that is very interesting in learning more...thanks to those listing good resources and "must do's"...ordering books now....but my first question....is playing with a single deck the most desired playing situation?...nearby we have a number of casinos that use them...most of them actually...

many thanks...

The only reason I can think of to avoid them is if they pay 6 to 5 on BJ. If thats the case, stay away. Where is this at if I can ask?

Not a bad question. Is there such a thing as a GOOD single deck game found anywhere around?

PJ - Unless conditions have changed recently, there are still good SD games in LV, mainly downtown........ -0.14% w/DOA, H17, No DAS.

Quik65 - Yes, single deck is the "best game in town" if you have rules like above. Watch out for variations like doubling on 10 only, etc., and avoid 6:5 BJ payoff completely. If you post the rules of your local casinos, someone can give you the house advantage.

I was in Wendover NV about 4 weeks ago...3 to 2, double down on any first 2 cards...dealer must hit soft 17....we usually go there 3 to 5 times a year, but I'm thinking of going more as I learn more...I did ok one day then got waxed the next...after that, I decided I needed to get a little more educated than what I have learned "along" the way...I realized after finding this site that my so called BS was about 50% correct...working on that now...

help me out with some acronyms.....DOA, H17, No DAS as I wait for books...

thanks again...

Quik - You have a good game there!

DOA - Double Down On Any two cards.
H17 - Dealer Hits on a Soft 17
No DAS - No Doubling After Splitting.

Grifter...that is what I thought, but wanted to make sure....they will also let you double after splitting...best "luck" was at Montego Bay and the Rainbow...The Golden Nugget...used to be the Stateline was like a morgue except when the Derby was running..and we got waxed there too.....I'm better at the stock market...options in particular, so I'm up for learning here...not drinking as much or none when playing..lol..

Quik65: Enter keyword "gamemaster school" then go to the school and
read thru all the lessons; You'll be well prepared for books, post and any
other further learning. It's free and a very good place to start.

Also go to casinocitytimes.com and read all the art. by Renzey, and
other blackjack zars. That will keep you busy for a while.............

quik65- There used to be junket flights to Stateline/Silversmith, in Wendover and the Red Lion, in Elko, Nevada. Round trip and rooms for $69/$99. I went there several times, years ago and I am surprised (glad) to see the BJ is still good there.

midnite....I'm within driving distance....100 miles...so that puts me in er ah....Utah?....lol...not sure if they still do that...there were alot of F-16's flying around out there when I was there with the West Desert Range out there.....I'm hoping to pop out there in the next few weeks..it wasnt too long ago that they had face up BJ there...even odds on 21...havent seen it since though....
State Line went through a total makeover when it turned to to the Golden Nugget...I really dont like it....they seem to be struggling too..the Rainbow and Peppermill are always hopping though....
