Hey guys,

Sorry for the newb post...but I'm not a complete n00b belive it or not ;) I'm just a newb in the "comp world".

I play poker for a living....have so for over 4 years now, and as a professional gambler I get bored from time to time and do silly/fun/strange challenges. I've always been able to count (used to use hi lo but this past year switched to KO) but never really took it that far. (basically just so much more money in poker than BJ seems like a waste to concentrate that hard on it u know)

But out of boredom I wanted to set a challenge. My goal is to go to Vegas, 100% free, 3 times in 2008. (1 visit for the WSOP, 1 visit in december for Bellagio's 5 diamond and 1 visit whenever....so I'll play poker part of the day, but I'm willing to devote 8 hours a day at the BJ tables.)

My question is, what "cheapy casino" is the best/easiest to get RFB and flight?

My goal is to spread 1-4ish and try to play "breakeven blackjack" while enjoying free rooms etc. My bankroll for this "challenge" is $200K (but I'd rather use as little as possible, I "could" pull a bigger roll and dip into poker money but I'd rather not). Also I'm a cheapy and want to play as small as possible and play in the cheapy casinos (like Imperial Palace)

Anyone? Best guess on bet size needed? Best casino to try this at?

Ohhh, and upfront cash is no prob if you guys think that'll help a ton. One of my friends recomended it and said it's a must, another said it's not needed, so not sure who to believe.

p.s. remember this is a for fun/I'm bored thing.....poker is my money maker, blackjack is my "hobby"...so not trying to win a ton or even win a little, my goal is "breakeven"

I mean, I'm not retarded, I know $200K isn't needed...I was just trying to say, bankroll isn't an issue.

If say I put up front $10K and bet $100 a hand...is that realistic? $20K and $200 a hand more realisitic? Best casinos to try this at?

And if no one feels comfortable posting feel free to pm me or recomend books on the subject.

Most casinos use a formula of their own creation. The basic idea is:

comps = action * magic_number

action is your average bet times the number of hands played. For most pits, that turns into an estimated average bet times the average number of hands played at that type of game (shoe vs DD vs SD etc...) The "magic_number" is casino specific and is geared to give you a little of your expected loss back to keep you coming back and donating more to them. For blackjack, the average house edge is around .025 % or so, since most do not play perfect basic strategy. So if you take your average bet * number of bets made * .025, you will compute the amount of money the casino expects to win from you for that session. They will comp you part of that back, but how much depends on the casino. Note: do not expect to get 25% of your losses back. :) At red-chip betting levels, comps are pretty minimal and are usually of the "stay for 2 nights for free on non-weekend days" or something similar. Maybe with a buffet or two thrown in.

Any best guesses on bet/time needed? Ever done it yourself?

I'm more than comfortable betting $300 a hand. So I wouldn't necessarily call me a "red chip" player.

Is somethingh like $150 a hand for 6 hours a day at the imperial palace reasonable???? or is that like lol funny?

Depends. For example, at the MGM in Vegas they won't rate you unless you play at a $25 min BJ table. At the Imperial Palace in Biloxi, they will rate you at the $5 min tables. If you bet $100 and up, yes they will rate you and offer you comps. They expect the typical ploppy to lose about $125 per hour betting $100 average bet (50 hands per hour * 100 average bet * .025 house win rate for average BJ player). So your hourly loss expectation gives you an idea of what they are looking at for a comp level. There's a pro player over on bj21.com (BigPlayer) that runs a team, and he has answered this specific question with highly specific values for almost any casino on the planet. I just don't remember the discussions because I don't use a player's card for other reasons...

Everything you need to know you'll learn in these books.As you say you have$200,000 to put at risk ,spend $30 on an education.

Not a matter of believing or not. And every players experiances are different. I''m getting three free nights and $100 a day in comps from Wynn in December,because I know how to play their games,not because of what I bet.I'd gotten a few hints from public boards,and it took an hour of observation to figure out.
