Hello everyone,
I am a new user here on the forum. Consequently I am also new to blackjack relative to the rest of you Im sure.
What brought me here is a desire to improve my game to the point of making money regularly. I checked out many sites online offering more betting systems than I could count. These systems dont seem very practical to me though over the long term. So I am just wondering if it is even possible to "make a living gambling" as sites such as this one boasts to be able to do: www.geocities.com/automaticblackjack/blackjack.htm specifically with online casinos. There is just so much info out there that I thought this would be the place to get some honest help.
Thanks!

Theres no way you can turn a profit playing online blackjack. Because online casio's fear hackers peeking at what cards are out, or people keeping a running count say on a piece of paper (simplifying the proceess somewhat) the cards are shuffled after every hand and continuously throughout a hand to prevent anyone knowing a)that the deck is more favourable or b)what the next card would be.

On a side note if your hearts set on online play then you could try online texas hold'em, you've still got the same problem that the cards are continously shuffled and any folded cards go back in which means that the hand changes depending on the number of callers. However this gives no one player the edge unlike online blackjack where the house is a benfactor of it continous shuffling.

You can actually make money at "bonus hustling" where you buy in, receive a cash bonus for buying in for the first time, and then playing perfect BS until you have generated enough "action" to qualify for cashing out the bonus. If you analyze the requirements, and figure your loss by playing perfect BS, if you end up with a positive amount, it is profitable and you should play. Online casinos have caught on to this and the bonus requirements are stiffer today than in years past, making it harder to come out ahead.

And then there are the places that simply won't pay you no matter what.

I'd avoid _all_ online play myself...

I agree 100% with stainless steel rat.

That's the best advice concerning online casinos you will ever get!

I'm not advocating online casinos at all, I find it hard to trust what's not physically in front of me, but just a side note/observation that continuous shuffling would have little or no effect on progressions.

Correct. In blackjack, progressions will lose money no matter whether the dealer hand shuffles, uses an automatic shuffler, a continuous shuffling machine, or if he shuffles with his feet.

Thanks for all the fine advice.
The only reason I asked about online casinos is that I live fairly far from a land casino. Being a casual player it would be nice to just log in and play a few hands without making a night of it. But it appears the majority of you guys are against them so I will heed your warnings.

Do you guys think there is any merit in any of those systems out there? I had read an article in which a guy won approx. $1.3 million from an online casino but they refused to pay because they claimed he used a "bot". Do you think such things actually exist? What would you suggest for me to improve my game?

Sorry for all the questions! :D

While I don't advocate gaming on-line in general, I agree that comp or bonus hustling is about all there is.

Progression systems, (or basic strategy) is the best you will do. Limiting yourself to small bets: say $1-1.50-2-3 (advance when you win, bet $1 after a loss) can be enjoyable for some entertainment once in a while. Or grind out a $1-1.50-2-2 by repeating the sequence no matter what. Or just flat bet basic.

As long as its for entertainment.
