Thought this might also be of interest. It's tells the story of a counter that was caught at Mandalay Bay in April. Casino security pressed charges for "trespassing and battering guards" but the judge dismissed the case midtrial.

Also, I've read The Travel Channel has tentatively scheduled to show this years LV Hiltons Million dolar BJ tournement on 11/27. Check your local listings!
Dave, About the only thing that I have noticed locally in the last
few months is the placement of the cut card and mid shoe entry
signs. But, consider these observations from real life: Even on
this forum there appears to be a high rate of winners, very few
going down the tube.
My own personal experiences, for example, have been nothing less
than unreal. I've had the best spring, summer and fall that I've ever
had. Also, at the tables, there appears to be a much greater number
of winners than what one would think of as normal. More and more
people are playing better BS and this may have some effect. I've
been supprised by the number playing progressions in the games
and those who attend our little discussions. Very puzzling to say
the least!!!
I don't know if the casinos have a reasonable perspective, or they are
trying to avoid some legal issues in-order to increase profits......

An additional thought is the wide distribution of casinos accross
the country. It's no longer once a year tourist playing blackjack.
Local people play frequently and are learning the game far better
than the once a year LV or AC types. It may also be traced to the
state of the economy and people are driven to play for blood to the
extent that they are able. Think of the impact to the casino if every
player played perfect basic strategy. Just maybe the poor casinos
have a point, but they may be missing the root cause completely.
I watched computer literacy grow from nothing in the 70's to what
it is today. An amazing transition, so why not blackjack as well.
Ever onward blackjack players, you have the "FORCE" with you.....

Jeeeezuss. I've heard about casinos' security ppl roughing up players before but hadn't read an article on it before tonight. I figured Blackjack would be a mental battle at the table. Didn't think it was that likely it would turn physical!...
Looks like if I want to keep going on this, I'll have to start running & lifting weights! Sure as hell don't want to be out of shape if I'm cuffed. I'm only 150 lbs, facryinoutloud. Even if the likelihood is low, worst-case prep is still a must.

Ray, you make some exceptionally good points, very thought provoking. I think also, the internet must be factored in. I believe there must be many more people who have used the info on the net as training, compared to the casual player of twenty years ago.
You made a reference to computers, and computer literacy, and I think that goes hand in hand with the ease and availibility of simulations out there. Between the net and the commercial programs, people have surely become much wiser to the game.
What I'm trying to say, is that you make a very good point that the game is evolving because of this. Will be interesting to see where it goes...
