Why I Love this Game
  • Went out to the local Casino yesterday morning for my now weekly play. Mornings are great. Not busy like weekend nights and more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Also I don't drink alcohol in the morning so I have tip top concentration! :D . Tables are fairly open and play is fast paced with only 3 people at a table. Most memorable hand.....i'm at 3rd base and the dealer has a K up. 4 players have played their hands and sit good with 18's-20's all round, and I'm sitting with 16 :(
    Time to pull :?
    WHAM! a 5!!! :D
    Dealers hole card ....a 6...pulls a 10 to bust! Cheers ring out :P 8) :D
I love when that happens! Take one for the table once in while and you may just get lucky! I went home with $135 and gave out $10 in tips. Another fine morning for an hour of play :)
  • Having a bad day last week-end in Oct. After being up 5 units and back to -5 units... i get 3-3 with a dealer 8 up. I have a 2 chip bet on table. Sitting Short stop, i say to 3B, I think i'll split em, I hate 16.

Looking around nothing but 19-20-21 totals on the board (all pat hands no less) and 3B has 19 soft. My 3's look stiff.

    Yeah... why not. Your money.

    So I split'em and get a 7... OK DD... get a 7... ouch.
Other one gets an 8 and the DD flips a 10... looks like a split.

Guy at 1st base says "you had 20 if you don't split."

Yeah, that sux... but before I could finish the thought, the dealer flips up a FIVE !

    AND DRAWS A JACK !

dealer wudda made 21 and beat 6 of the 7 hands...only the BJ would live.

YEAH BABY was heard from the guy at 1B, and I high fived 3B.

pay, pay, pay, and pay summore.... I luv this game!
  • Usually when I split 3's I get another 3 :? Then they turn into 13's. :x Then I get screwed  . Nice play though. Its gutsy to split when you see a 7 or higher 8)
  • 3's against an 8 is a fairly close call, and one I make if short some 10's with a positive A5 score. Its pretty much right down the middle under those conditions. Player is looking for 6-7-8 to go with the 3 and an 8 or 9 after. 7-8-9 is usually NOT given a value in most Advantage systems, and becomes a "riddle wrapped in an enigma".

Close to a coin-flip IMHO if not 500/500.

Whats prompting the delayed response is an actual "best guess" sim.

With one deck gone from 6, and an A5 score of +2 ( 4 more A's than 5's remain) and shorted 6 face cards from average (74 vs. 80). Depending on the exact # of Aces and 5's (20 and 16, 22 and 18 or 24 and 20) ,the 22 and 18 was chosen as the only 2 Aces seen in the shoe were the ones on the table.

I just finished that sim before logging in. The results were that I made the correct guess by an ev of 0.0013... but I wasn't accurately counting 10's, and an error of say +/- 1 face cards would most likely mean a bad play.

"Even when "ya know" you never know."

Moose... when I get em with an 8,9,10, or Ace up... I usually get a 10 then bust with a 7,8,9, or 10. Always seems better to take a shot with 13 as opposed to 16...LOL.

I was playing 3rd base yesterday and got a pair of 3's and can't remember what the up card was  . But I made one crap hand and a 21. Dealer made 18. so it was a split. The guy at 1st base took his chips off the table real fast and split
