Casino Comps...Especially Rooms
  • I live in the East. The closest blackjack game is a 4/5 hour drive to Niagara Falls or AC. Monthly I receive three day room comps for casinos from both locations. My question is would I receive less room comps from casinos if I lived a half hour away? I believe I would. West Virginia blackjack will start in October and I believe it would be to my advantage to have a player's card address at least 4 hours away. Does this make any sense? I just can't see MTR sending me three day room comps when I live 40 miles away. I may receive a night or so a few times, but weekly three night comps seem out of the question.

Do people who live in Las Vegas receive room comps as often as people from New York for same play? I'm talking playing blackjack only.

    Thanks for any comments.

  • I have not noticed any difference. I lived in Hattiesburg MS and got just as many comp offers from the Beau, the Grande, the Isle, etc as I do now, living 5+ hours away from them... They just want you to come and stay, and leave some of your money behind as well... BTW if you don't know the geography, Hattiesburg is 60 miles from the coast for reference.
  • Jim,
You may be onto something. I get comp offers from AC and they are all one-nighters except Resorts, which offers 2 nights. As you know, I live about 60-90 mins away.
  • I get plenty of comp offers from Tunica and Vicksburg, MS. Usually 1-3 free nights but never for Friday or Saturday.
  • I don't think that the geography of you matter if anything the casino wants you to be closer. Casino regularly send me offers for matchplays, rooms, free slot play, or even straight up cash pretty much anything to get me in the door. I think being inside an hours drive is benefit for both me and the casino. Lets say the cost to the casino to send out these offers is a $1 per person. If a casino has 5,000 card members to send stuff too than that can get costly especially if they send it every month. If they send out a lot of stuff and only get a few people to come in then they are failing. So they might target local people first and than if they have high rollers who live farther away target them too.
I'm not sure how much the offers change from somebody who just signed up for a card and for a person who is a high roller.
  • Today I received notification from one of the upstate Indian casinos that for being a valued customer I can obtain a free cup of coffee and danish daily for three months. I live 4+ hours away.
  • I have two players cards in most casinos. One is for my NY address, one is for a Florida PO box. THere is no difference between my Vegas offers, but my AC offers tend to be better, except from Harrahs, who sends the same offers to almost everyone. I'm going to establish a PO box in Vegas next trip. and see what kind of locals offers I get.
