The dealer that cheats
  • wow, i just got back from jackson rancheria and this new dealer came up after playing for a while with my friend, he seemed really friendly and we ended up having long conversations while we played, and what was shocking was that he was getting so comfortable with us that he started to kinda peel back the faced down card on his hand for a a split second so we could see the card underneath, he mostly did it when he had to check for a BJ. He noticed we finally got on and was telling us that the pit bosses cant even tell he is doing that. I was amazed that he would try and help us out that much. i won a lot of hands just cuz i saw his card underneath =) anyone esle experienced this?

In a place like Nevada, colusion between the dealer and a player could result in a government paid vacation for both of you.
I often read dealers hole cards but if I suspected the dealer was showing me his hole card on purpose, I would leave the table promptly.
Then you must consider reasons why the dealer would risk his job and perhaps a criminal charge for you, since you did not have a pre-arranged profit sharing agreement.
    1. The dealer just happens to like you so much that he is willing to go to jail just to give you a few dollars.
    2. In this casino, dealers keep their own tokes and he expects you to toke big time.
    3. He is pissed at his bosses and is using you to get back at them.

Back in the late 70's, I was at Sahara (they had some decent games back then but with distinct paranoia.
Sitting at the second position, I quickly noticed the dealer was showing both his hole card and the next card to be dealt to the player at first base. It seemed obvious to me and after using this information for a few hands it dawned on me that with the large bets first base was making, it would probably be obvious to anyone checking out his game. So I not only left the table but left the casino, having a friend cash my chips later.

I believe the casino this happened at is in Indian land and I am not sure about the all the laws involved but believe being a non member of the tribe you can be turned over to local or state law enforcement. Or the tribe can take you out back, beat the hell out of both of you and let you try suing them in tribal court.

Proving it might be hard but technically you were cheating.

  • Yeah it was at an indian casino, but i dont think there was anyway that the dealer could catch both of us tho, everytime the pitboss would walk over and observe the dealer knew to stop doing it. Then once he left he would start up again and he even told us that they never know what was going on. Also, how could they prove that i was looking at the cards even if they found out that he was lifting the cards up?

  • yeah it seemed to unreal, like i was dreaming, but the dealer told us that they never would have a clue that he was doing that. I gotta go back and find him and win millions =) jk
