• I'm sure this has been asked several times before but I'm new to the site. Anyway, why is there a difference between hitting 11 vs. A when dealer stands on soft 17 and double the 11 vs. A when the dealer hits the soft 17?

"...the dealer who hits soft 17 busts more often" (Basic Blackjack, Stanford Wong, page 37). This small difference makes doubling down the better choice.
  • Always double down on a 11.

In shoe games with S17 you should hit as the number of small cards (comprising the 11) removed from the shoe have been diluted percentage-wise due to the large number of cards.
