I have a simple question
  • How do I play 4-3-ACE against a dealer 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 up card. I always double A-7 vs. 3 or 4 or 5 or 6. Thank you
  • Unless your playing where they let you double down on any number of cards you hit it.

In a standard deck you have 19 cards than can sort of screw you (4,5,6,7,8) leaving you with a less than 17 total. (but in reality less than 18.5 is about the same as a stiff.

There are 16 cards that will leave you the same as you are (10,J,Q,K)

10 cards can improve your hand. (A,2,3)

That leaves 9 card which will leave you with a total of 17.

The average winning hand in BJ is 18.5.

All that being said there is a paper somewhere on totals of more than 2 cards, but trying to remember all of that plus basic, plus keep a count and look like your not counting is too much for me.

  • double.
  • Where I play, you can't double down after you have already taken a hit.
