  • HI FOLKS I am new here is Blackjack more easy then Video poker?

I am really bad at math so I cant be a card counter, but I seem to like Blackjack, my brother goes to The Borgota in AC and says you can never do well a BJ because the casino has a cut in making you lose, he Plays Texas HOLDEM and the folks who Play holdem only rent the table so the casino does not care if you win or lose.

PS here is a great BJ game that I have been using. http://www.airgunsmith.com/games/Ablackjack.swf
  • Welcome! Blackjack is NOT a hard game to learn. To begin with, you MUST learn Basic Strategy (BS). If you get BS down pat, you will be doing better than most players, (probably 95% of all players). So, without counting cards, while using just perfect Basic Strategy, you can be playing a game where the casino has only a 1/2% advantage. This makes BJ a very good game to play. In most other casino games, the casino has a bigger advantage. Just using BS, and betting the minimum, you can last a long time at the table.

The game you have the link for is nice, but I'd recommend you try the Hit or Stand Game on this site. It will help you learn BS. It will tell you when you play incorrectly.

Good luck! I can't respond to the Texas Holdem questions because I don't play the game.
  • THANKYOU for your reply, I am getting BS pretty good, yes it seems some folks are playing like total Fools at time, hitting when they have a 19 and such, do they have five dollare tables in AC, I live in Danville VA the nearest Casino is in Cheokee NC and all they have is Video BJ with a Dealer, I seem to like real Cards
    oh well.

    Hitting on 19? Uh...

There are only a couple of 5 dollar tables in AC. Most tables are $10 min and higher.

Please keep in mind that you will lose in the long run playing just basic strategy. You can learn to count cards. You do not need to be a mathematical genius to do so. If you can add and subtract, you can count cards. Just do a little research and you will find it is not as complicated as you may think. There are plenty of sources to learn on the internet too. Just do a Google search for counting cards.

Also, if you ever do become a card counter and Stuart C. Brandt is your real name, I would advise that you do not post with it as your handle.
  • read Blackjack Bluebook II by Fred Renzey,it's available on this site,amazon.com,or your favorite bookstore. it's quite true-you don't enen have to be good at math, much less a math expert to count cards.
i think you'll be amazed,as i was just how simple counting is to learn the way Fred explains it in his book. best of luck!

  • BTW, when is that new version coming out? I believe Fred said it would be by the end of March, but I haven't seen it yet.
  • In addition to learning BS,and getting a start counting cards,I suggest you read Max Rubins 'COMP CITY".This will show you how to exploit the casino comp system so that you recieve comps well in excess of whatever losses you may incur.
  • Hi folks has anyone played Video blackjack that is all they have with dealer.
At Cherokee NC all they have is video blackjack with a dealer the Casino must have a big edge with this game or they would not be using it.
I seem to like the real cards better but who knows, any input from you folks,
also I have the little Strategy printout card from this site.

    I know H means hit.
    I know D means double.
    I know S means stand.
What does P mean on the card.

  • Hey thankyou I must be a Schmuck.
Wow I am learning every day.

  • Stuart,
Everyone starts sometimes. This and many of the other BJ boards are great places to help develop your game.I wish they had some much information on the internet when I started.
While I'm not yet completely sold on Mr Renzeys
advanced systems, his beginners system is the easiest to learn of the many, many books I've read on the subject.
Read all you can, almost every book I've ever read teaches me something, and practice.
  • you are not a shmuck.Nobody is born knowing about pair splitting you must learn it.
not knowing things does not make you stupid, refusing to learn them does.study and practise, you will do fine, good skill
  • Hi folks Bob Dancer has said that Video Poker is more easy to learn, or at least come up ahead then BlackJack.
