Wizard of Odds Casino House Ratings..Question
  • 6 Decks, S17, DAS, LS, Resplit A's
    Venetian .26
    Mandalay Bay .26
    Bellagio .26
    Golden Nugget .47

Why would there be a difference in House Take if rules are same?

What am I missing? Is the answer penetration?

    Thanks, Jim
  • Penetration has no effect on the house edge because that is based upon basic strategy.
There are several errors in the wiz's chart, but for a free chart it is good. The Nugget does not allow re-split of aces and the house edge is .33% as of last month.

Nugget has both according to CBJN. 12 $5 tables where the dealer hits soft 17 on 6 deck shoes and 8 $25 tables where the dealer stays on soft 17.

Mandalay Bay also has both 25 tables where the dealer hits soft 17 and 27 tables where the dealer stays.

The Wiz list is what it is, a free list, good but not completely accurate.

  • Thanks for the corrections and up dates.

  • Back to orginal question. Why are some casinos with same rules: S17, DAS, 3/2, RA, LS listed as .26% House Adv. and some .39%?

I don't understand where the additional .13 House Adv. comes from.

    Can anyone explain.

    Appreciate and Thanks for reply.

  • If you post examples of the casinos, I might be able to tell you why, but it might be just another error in their list.

  • Jim - If the decks/rules are the same, the HA is the same....It is an error if they are listed as equal..........and the error is probably that one has DAS and the other doesn't. I've seen that rated at both 0.13 and 0.14.

  • Appreciate all responses to post and especially Grifter...Hope everything is going well. Jim

Grifter, I've been practicing for the last year and it finally is starting to pay off. I received my first backoff from the Redskins at the Falls. I'll PM you tomorrow. Currently on my way to airport and late.

  • The rules very from casino to casino and even though the base rules are usually simular small differences can make a difference in house edge.
  • Yeah, that list is free so you get what you get. The only things that effect house advantage are: penetration/ penetration varies by dealer, DAS or no DAS, RSA (some let you RSA once and some let you RSA up to 3 times), hand shuffled or CSM, S17 or H17. Mid or No Mid Entry is huge for players who like to wong. Those are pretty much all the factors.

Another thing that can greatly effect your expected results are promotions and comps..
Sahara has 2-1 suited BJ on Tuesdays.Edgewater runs promos where you get a coupon for every BJ. Ten of these gets you a prize that ranges from $10 cash to $100 food Comp.
Some casinos won't rate you unless you play $25 a hand,so playing two similar games at 2 different casinos can greatly effect your expected results.
Play ten hours of $15 hands at The Wild West in Vegas and you can comp your whole posse to a nice dinner.Do the same thing in Belligio and you'll get nothing.
