double up strategy
  • I tried searching but I'm not familar with what this strategy is called.. and I'm sure it's been discussed.

My friend is telling me about his double up strategy, where he doubles up his bet if he loses... until he wins one hand. Then he goes back to the original bet.

For instance, if he's betting $10 and losers, he'd bet $20 the next hand.. if he loses then $40... etc until he wins.

Can anyone tell me what this strategy is called? Pros/cons of this strategy? Thanks in advance

It is called martingale. It is a bad strategy you will have more winning sessions than losing sessions, but losing sessions you lose a lot more than your winning sessions. The only way it would work if their was no table limit and you had infinte bankroll. Casino's love to see blackjack players playing this way.
