Playing blackjack as a business!
  • I was just curious to see how many people have read this wonderful book on blackjack?

This book for me is the holy bible of blackjack playing. It tells you all the odds such is how likely the dealer is to break, how much you gain or lose by hitting certain hands, how to play single deck or shoe games, and what you gain by splitting pairs. It also has insight on the inside of the casino.

If you could only read one blackjack book this is the book that I would choose. The savings from reading this book and using it at the tables could be 100's of $$$!!!
  • Learning...Congradulations, your writing skills are improving. Be careful because this could eventually lead to your real ID.
  • learningtocount, when you said 100's of $$$, did that mean 100's of dollars or 100's of three dollar groups (that is, 100's of $3, or, put nother way, 300's of dollars)?

Well, for me that book goes directly to the heart. It may not be the most technical/scientific book on the market but if you learn Larry’s stuff you definitely will play a winning game. That book will teach you haw to win. That book cuts the fat out of the game. It deals with what’s important and common sense. If you would have meet Larry during his life time you would have not ever heard from him the nonsense that we hear today about keeping count of some “black Aces” or some “red sevens” here and there just to avoid true count conversion. You either true count the game or you had no business be associated with him. If you want an unbalanced count then use the KO and true count it to get the TKO. Is much powerful compared with true of Hi-Lo.

One of the best book written by one the greatest BJ player ever.
  • Another important aspect of this book is that it is the first book that really focused on the discipline required to become successful. As Alex said, Mr. Revere cut the fat out of the game. Either you learned how to play the game properly or you didn’t waste his time. And if you wanted to learn how to play properly, you’d better be ready to work you butt off to do it. If you weren’t willing to put in the time and effort then he didn’t want anything to do with you (or if you used one of the Hi-Opt counts:p). That is a crucial fact that many authors, even today, seem to gloss over.

  • I was curious by what you meant by "cut the fat out of the game."

I think that the book gets right to the point on how to play better blackjack.

"cut the fat out of the game"... many books are lots of chaff and very little wheat. Several are nothing more than marketing devices in fact. Others only point out the upside of counting, totally omitting the mindset necessary to make it work. I believe he meant that this book leaves out the chaff and adds in gory details that are important to understand...

Arnold's "Blackbelt in BlackJack" is another such book with way more wheat than chaff... On the other end of the spectrum is a book like Canfield's that gives very little info about anything other than the specific counting system he described, and then the rest of the book was anecdotal discussions or flagrant marketing to get you to buy his "even better" (but way more costly) system.. :)

Learning how to count just gets you started. There's a lot more to it beyond that technical skill...

the most concise book i've found that gives the big picture is John May's Get the Edge at Blackjack.

  • Learning, did you read the book or copy someone else's review?

Just curious because I don't ever recall you answering another poster's question directly. You normally just go off and talk about mostly stupid things.

Not being rude, just want to see if I can get an answer from you.

No question you the champ "Forum Player" on the board.

Happy Thanksgiving who ever you are.

I've read the book and sat at his kitchen table while he dealt me hands. One could certainly learn much from him. So long as one kept his hand on his wallet.

If you want a BJ book that "cuts the fat out of the game," try Rick Blaine's Blackjack Blueprint.

I am going to make the mistake and reply with some honesty to Norm. It has failed before, but sometimes I am gluten for punishment and forced to even consider replying to his garbage.

    So here goes:
Norm, the con men is still spewing nothing but false and malicious libel against Revere. Norm being a system huckster avoids to discuss Blackjack because we have proved long ago his software system is fraudulent. Con man Norm is posting here for one reason, to libel anyone including the late master of all times Revere and to promote his fraudulent software.

Again, the con man Norm pretends being taught blackjack by Revere, the very one that he maliciously libel now. If you have been trained by the “MASTER” you would be playing the game for money now. But obviously you are an arm chair player that has no clue about how to win in this game. Revere would have told you how to make money but you’ve been to much of an i&%^$*€ to pick up the trade secrets. So, now the con man Norm is playing with himself while pretending being in casino betting into his deceiving software.
  • Happy Holidays to you too.

    I wouldn't give it much thought. :)

    remember "consider the source".

PS Norm's software is _not_ fraudulant...

And I assume Alex meant "glutton"...

Alex, Norm is right in not responding to your ridiculous rants. He has helped out and run sims for some of the best blackjack minds and teams out there. Not to mention all of the others who have wisely invested in his software. He has the respect of those who truly try to play this game with an advantage. Everyone has a right to an opinion, but when its voiced as insults fabricated around ignorance and downright false accusations, its just noise that should not be heard. Rant if you want, but you have nothing to substantiate your ill informed notions, while Norm stands behind a very impressive body of work thats endorsed by many true professionals and recreational players alike. Usually I would ignore your usually ignorant posts, but I think you need to go back to reading posts not writing them until you learn a bit of respect.
  • Wow.
I learned a valuable lesson here and now in this thread.
I log on and see the only new posts on the forum are on this thread, and that Bojack made the last reply. As the thread had sort of petered out and wasn't very useful to begin with,I clicked the READ FIRST UNREAD POST button, came across Alexis spew and mistakenly thought I was reading Bojacks.Couldn't understand it until I got to the end and saw the author was not Bojack.
Allowing avatars might solve any future mistakes.
  • Maybe Alex has a good point. Maybe his investors are putting heat on him or a return. Tell us why he's a fraud Alex...If he wasn't at the recent gaming expo then I would agree with you. Norm, did you have a booth promoting CV?

Sorry, I have no investors. I sell no systems. I have no booths. I don't attend gaming expos. I am not now nor have ever been a member of the Communist Party. I don't understand your post.
  • a true representation of an act of genius.
uncompromising in it's portrayal of our craft.
one of the few examples of a marriage of art and science that corrupts neither.
a monumental task that was actually achieved.
a stepping stone that helps the average Joe like me to stand on the shoulders of giants the like of Thorpe et. al
    thank you qfit!
  • Qufit supports are just "Forum Players" who get their rocks off using his software and post how smart they are when counting. It does give you something to do while sitting home instead of playing for real money. This guy is a one man marketing machine who has been successful in making his $400 a week working new counters. I'll bet he doesn't even play in a casino because he can't affort too.

Alex WTF this post is childish.Did someone forget to change your diapers? Qfits stuff is the real deal weather you choose to believe it or not.And besides from what I have read and understand about Revere he was a much better BJ player than he was a person. I am sure he would be hard pressed to put up with your rants. Why to I get the feeling you were giving your keyboard a Bronx Cheer when you were typing this post. Pittiful.
  • Funny how countfast comes to Alex's aid when he gets blasted for stupid comments. Another case of someone hiding behind another personality to try to give their bullshit point some validity. Alex, you are countfast, and because both of you come from the same so called brain, you are both morons. All of this seems really quite pathetic when you realize this moron is attacking someone with Qfits credentials.

Someone is a complete idiot, look at the post message moron. Obviously I did not post using Countfast name, he simply posted his. These con men are really getting desperate to lie, so much they are making fools out of themselves.

Clearly, the casinos are supporting system hucksters like Norman to promote and "steer" suckers into their casinos. The casinos know that "steering" suckers into casinos violates criminal statutes, so they are using their "agents" instead to circumvent the law. Meanwhile, the system hucksters actually receive money from the suckers stupid enough to purchase such dangerous software systems like QFIT, and enjoy "consulting status" with big paychecks from casino industry. (Remember Wong and Snyder both surfaced working for TropWorld casino in Atlantic City (as did Anthony Curtis and Max Rubin) in a lawsuit in which a card counter sued the casino for cheating...and won.)

Like all the other hucksters, Norman make believe he’s been trained by Revere while blowing low as to libel his master. The same master that obviously cannot defend himself and reveal to us all the truth about Norman’s capability of understanding this game.

My point is, the more con man operations we reveal, the more these con men libel, lie and swindle. But so far, all they have managed to do is look stupid. They are so desperate they actually try and con people into believing that this con man's software is real. Yet he posts exactly the same as he does when he is using other aliases, and NEVER says anything about Blackjack, just redirects the post to his fraudulent web site that promotes illegal gambling. That alone reveals what these con men are doing to their sucker clients. The con man desperation is clearly growing exponentially, and I suspect you have not seen anything yet....wait until we start revealing what we know about the system huckster connections with illegal online casinos. As I am sure the authorities will be as interested as the readers in all these casino connections, and we of course will keep them informed.

You see, Norman, what you got yourself into? You are over your head in this one and I don’t see any way out for you. Unless you apologize for insulting Revere.
  • QFIT,
When you say you were never a member of the communist party, could you go into details?
Exactly WHEN weren't you a member and could you idenitify the other non-members?
ps-where did you bury Jimmy Hoffa?

I knew Jaime Hoffa. Jaime Hoffa. was a friend of mind. You are no Jaime Hoffa.

Wait, did you mean Jimmy Hoffa?

    Nevermind.
  • My Father was President of a large local of a National Union. I met and had my picture taken with him shortly after he was released from jail. To this day I still have his picture hanging in my home office and consider him on of the great labor leaders of my time.
  • I not only read the book but took lessons from Revere in the early 1970s. He was a very interesting guy!
