Can you recomend a casino in Vegas?
  • Hey folks, I'vegot myself a long layover in Vegas next month. I'll be in town on a Friday night from about 10PM until about 8AM Saturday morning. Anybody have any recomendations as to teh best casino to spend that time?
  • Depends on what you're looking for. Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mandalay, Mirage and Treasure Island are my favorites. Venetian is very nice, too. Mandalay is the closest to the airport.
  • I'm looking for a place that runs more then three or four tables late at night and has a more upscale clientle. Last time I was out there, I stopped in at Circus Circus and stayed about 10 minutes, just to give you an idea of what I don't like. I did spend some time in the Casino at teh J.W. Marriot and that was pretty sweet.
  • If you want upscale, visit Bellagio, Mandalay, Mirage, Venetian. They should have plenty of tables open (on a Friday night), but anything less than a $25 table might be hard to come by, esp. at Bellagio and Venetian. If higher limits ($25-50 min bet) don't bother you, I'd probably go to Bellagio. Caeser's is nice, too (in the renovated part by the sports book).

To save time and avoid the traffic that crawls along the strip, just go to one of the four at the corner of Tropicana Blvd and the Strip -- New York NY, MGM, Excalibur, or Tropicana. The airport entrance itself is on Tropicana about two miles east of the strip. A little further north on the strip are the places like Bellagio and Paris, but that last stretch to get there can burn a lot of time.
