Hand Shuffling VS. CSM
  • Hello ITS MJB again!!
Ok, I have this theory about blackjack shuffling. The casinos use 3 or 4 different shoes at the table when using the csm. What I have been seeing lately that my bank roll goes up and down when i'm playing a game at a csm.
Lets say if we do double deck blackjack, and we continue to use the same deck all through the night. and no matter how many times the csm i'll see the same cards I got before on the next deck that is shuffled. using the samedeck that we started with. and for say we do good on a certain double deck cards and we do bdly on the other deck of cards. I know there is a weakness but can someone explain to me the weakness perhaps I can figure out how to exploit it. CSM's are perfect for counting cards I think.

    You cannot exploit the CSM.
Now, perfect for card counting is in order: Single, Double and some multiple decks if pen is about 75% or more. Nothing else.

If by multi deck you mean 4+ decks with CSM, then realize that these games suck big time. You cannot get the edge.
In a hand shuffle 4-6 deck game "play all" the bankroll required is more like 2000 units, the win per hour is much lower, and the variance (with a large spread) is much higher. Advantage is a bogus statistic and does not properly take into account risk for shoes. A 1% advantage shoe is likely much worse than a 0.5% advantage single deck game, in terms of certainty equivalent and Return On Investment. When I play shoes, I'm either using a very small unit and a humongous spread or more likely I'm back counting. Many people just don't realize how bad shoes are. However, if only shoe games existed, I would play shoe games, because I still get a better return on investment than the stock market or bonds or anything else including “real jobs”

MJB- I don't think anyone can make heads or tells about your post. When you say 3 or 4 different shoes, do you mean decks? "Lets say if we do double deck blackjack"...What on earth do you mean by that statement? It appears like you have a poor understanding of CSM'S and their application.

Try a rewrite of your post.

My interpretation was that he was describing an ASM rather than a CSM. Those are in our favor if all you do is pure counting, as the hands per hour goes up. The comment about "multiple shoes" with a CSM doesn't make any sense since the CSM itself is the "shoe"...

Probably he’s been thinking four tables with CSM on each table. Else, doesn't make sense. The CSM in itself is a shuffling shoe.
