Dealer draws to 21 pop quiz
  • In the game of 21 using 6 decks dealer stands soft 17, the dealer gets a 10-up Blackjack about 1 in 13 times. One of the following up-cards draws to a 21 more than the others, and more often than the dealer gets a 10-up blackjack. Which up-card allows the dealer to draw to 21 the most?
  • whats the answer??
  • A two is the winner, 11.8%
A six draws more frequently to 21 (9.7%) than dealer getting a 10-up BJ
An Ace draws to 21 5.35% (less than 1/2 as often as a 2, yet the dealer RARELY breaks)
A 10-value is least likely of all up-cards at 3.5%

Interesting quiz! What is the source of your information on these frequencies?
  • That makes sense.

I guess the reason the Ace rarely breaks is because it can be counted as a 1 also.
  • Eric Farmer's BJ 5.0... a DOS program that allows one to see the % plays for the choices allowed H/S/DD/P/R. By inputting a set of rules one can see the results of the dealer expectations with a given up-card. You can save the rules as a txt file when prompted.

A search for "Farmer" on this BBS will get you a link to the site.

That reminds me I forgot the conditions for this weeks quiz.
