Indian Casinos
  • Hello,

My first post so I'll try and be clear
I live in California where the Indian Casino's are popping up everywhere and in the last 2 years 3 have been built within an hour of my house. I've noticed that there are no posts about them. They appear to have some good rules like split anything, Double after split, split up to 4 times, $5 tables if you get there early and the dealer hits a soft 17 which I hear is no deal. Is there any inherent advantage to these casinos over Reno or Tahoe or are they the same as all casino's?

    Thanks

    Nick
    :)
  • The main advantage is in, the travel cost. The closer he casino, the less cost to get there. We have four casinos in Kansas and they are all indian casinos. Most offer a better game, than in many Nevada casinos. My travel cost is less than twenty bucks. I go two or three times a month and have done so, for several years. I like them just fine.
  • Nice place, very fun, great rules (Split up to 4 times, DAS) dealers will reach out and high five winners, main pit boss(director of table games) dealt a little pitch game I was at, buried hole card, then turned them both over(showing hole card)made me laugh a couple of times. Probably San Diego's most remote casino, about 45 min east, but the funniest place I've played yet. I played for 5 hours and ate dinner free (30.00 comp) and went home +1100.00 (2 of us she bought in for 40 I bought in for 100)

I've seen the billboards for that place. Pretty unusual. Normally high-fiving dealers is out of the question as they must never be touched, and your hands can't be on money or chips at the same time. Great results on that trip. Were you playing any particular strategy?

I was, strict BS and I bet table minimum while losing and 2x3x4x5x6x7x during streaks. I maxed out at a 35.00 bet a couple of times, we just got lucky. It happens..I played for a long time. The dealer showed me how to shuffle the chips too, they were very unusual, thats for sure. Good way to make sure I come back. Pretty smart really.
  • §igh... how pathetic. I haven't been to this board in ages and yet I still OWN nearly 20% of all the posts. Amazing.

    ...

Anyway, I dont see how you won $1100 with only a $100 buy-in and playing @ a $5 table?? That would mean you would have to have had a winstreak to reach x7 LOTS of times, when you said you only reached there twice. How in the hell did you end up winning $1100 @ a $5 table?!

Idano about da rest of you guys, but just sounds a little too hard to believe.
  • Bughouse:

    1. You still have 20% of the posts because at one time you were making about five posts to everyone else's one.

    2. I never doubt anyone's results, but I also wondered about those numbers so I checked them out.......looks to me like a great streak of good luck.

Very roughly, they "knocked down" about 40 units/hr for five hours, or 20 units per hour for each hand......those are phenomenal numbers, but they are within one standard deviation.

    My only comment would be:

Mike - Don't expect those kind of results every time you go to a casino, but congrats on the big win.

I dunno, I wasn't really keeping a close ledger of events, I do remember the dealer telling me that at one point I had won 13 hands in a row. I think I'm a little different than some people in the respect that I play Blackjack because I enjoy playing it. Win, lose, or otherwise I enjoy sharing the ride to the desert with my wife, going to the casino and playing a game that I'm (in my opinion)good at, and teaching her the reasons I play the way I do. I like to watch other people play and enjoy the conversations with the dealers and pit bosses. I also like to share these experiences with you people as well, good and bad. I do read these posts every day and have learned a great deal from you all, mostly. I have done well at times and others times as I have posted done some pretty boneheaded things too. That's what makes things interesting for me. The last thing I would do would be to stretch the truth here, one way or the other for some twisted bid for attention, and like I said I have read every post on this board since the first day Neil started it. I haven't posted a heck of alot, but when I thought I had something to share I did so, But I also have a firm opinion that I would keep my thoughts to myself before I would say something ill spirited and sound like an idiot, rather than make the mistake of saying it and remove any doubt. I have a great deal of respect for you guys and would love to meet any one of you for a session at the tables, so that when I say the I use strict BS when I play I mean the to be interpeted as Basic Strategy.
  • Mike,

Great post, and well put. I'm also an avid follower of this board and a not-so-frequent contributor.

Excited about going to the Horseshoe in Bossier City in a few weeks. Have essentially mastered BS, love to read & re-read Fred's book, and am considering trying the KISS 1 system -- but then again, it sure is fun simply to play well, enjoy the surroundings and the company (without counting), and make having a good time be one of the priorities.

A big thanks to Midnite, Grifter, Fred, and the entire group of those who are civil and also secure enough with themselves to make this an outstanding place to keep coming back to. Thanks, guys!

Bug, yes we're all extremely impressed that you OWN so many of the posts. It really elevates you in our eyes. And by all means keep questioning people's integrity -- that's pure class.

Mike, continued success. And keep posting!
  • Each and every post on these boards is subject to scrutiny. Each of us make's his own bed depending on the words he speaks or writes. Bug doubted Mike's numbers, and he said so in no uncertain terms. That's all he did, He doubted Mike's numbers. So did Grif. There is nothing ambiguous about Bug's words. He says what he feels, and thank God for that. There was nothing profane or beligerent in what Bug wrote. This is a public forum and Bug is a large part of this forum.
  • EXACTLY Ted. I'm glad you know what I'm talking about precisely. Apparently PhilTX doesn't realize that though, eh?!   LOL.

And your point being Grif??? That only shows how much of a participator I am and contributor to this BJ board with my extreme activity... what would you rather have, a DULL board or an ACTIVE board? That's what I thought too.

Yeah, I know... dont hate the PLAYER, hate the GAME BiA!!
  • Bug - No adverse point at all. You made a comment, and I responded with a fact. You once had a percentage of over 40% (the last time I noticed) of the posts......and yes, I definitely want an active board.

    Regards.....Grif'

    p.s. I sent you a PM.
