CSMs good for BS players?
Grifter wrote I'm not sure I believe it, but I remember reading a report a year or so ago where someone calculated that CSM's actually helped a basic strategy player......... But the gain was miniscule. and certainly not enough to justif…

What happens if you have zero $'s after round one? Are you eliminated? Or do they give you/everyone just $2000 at the start of each round?

First, he posts that he bought the system in an obvious spam message. Then, the next day he days that it is his system. At least use a different name! I hope lasvegasplayer is better at blackjack than at using the Internet. He loved the compan…

Advice needed
P.S. Alex, you change your mind more than a fat kid in a candy store. A couple months ago, you were advocating quit points (I remember arguing with you about this), now you say quit points is a bad idea. Which is it? People can change their minds, b…

New to the board, and a few questions
It seems to me that you and your husband are the types that are knowledgable but really enjoy the atmosphere and play that BJ offers. I would think that working hard for three weeks to toss that all aside and concentrate on the counting (which is n…

Effect of Standard Deviation

ideal place to sit at table?
I would think that a count can go from unfavorable to favorable from 1st base to 3rd, just as likely as it could go favorable to unfavorable from 1st to 3rd, (and anywhere in between) thus I'm inclined to believe its a crap-shoot as to where th…

Newbie ? - Splitting on Aces and double down
Additionally, you should DD when you are holding a total of 11 against a dealer face card. Even better, there are some two deck games in which you should DD holding 11 against an Ace! Try that and watch them go nucking futs!

I'm south in Cruces and get to Albuquerque frequently, but havent had time to play there in years. When I did, I enjoyed Isleta and the one in Bernallio. However, I can't recall the exact table rules in either place. Isleta did have som…

Peter Griffin, in his The Theory of Blackjack, shows that there are occasions when a player would insure a natural with less than one third of the unplayed cards being tens. Alex, please correct me if I'm wrong, but your logic appears to be b…

Even Money?
If you have a natural/BJ, insurance should be automatic unless the true count is very negative. It costs you very little in the long run, and reduces bankroll fluctuation. If your hand adds up to be 20, the correlation of taking insurance will be hi…

The only reason I can think of to avoid them is if they pay 6 to 5 on BJ. If thats the case, stay away. Where is this at if I can ask?

No-peek under an ace gives a house edge of .01% while no-peek under a 10 give a .1% house advantage. Simply put, they are doing this to take more of your money! You are encouraged to split or double down if you have the opportunity and lose more t…

Why Blackjack?
Roulette - with both 0 and 00 - has a house edge of 5.26%, its not a 50/50 game. This applies to whether you play red/black, odd/even, 1-18/19-36. Those little 'nothings' WILL bite you in the butt! Additionally, I cant spout stats on th…

Bugs ?
When you split aces, the standard casino rule is one card to each only. Thats it, no matter what you draw. Even if you draw another ace. Any face card on split aces gives you 21 too, not BJ. Thus, even money.

We just returned from a NCL 7 day cruise. The BJ tournament they ran was 'interesting' to say the least! There was a single prize of $500 no matter how many/few entries they got. $10 buy-in per round, as many rounds as you want. I thin…
